Tankless heaters · Rio Rancho

Hard water scales up a tankless heater. A yearly flush clears it.

We install tankless water heaters and flush them once a year, for homes on Rio Rancho's hard water. Tell us what yours is doing.

Hardness, in plain numbers

Find your water's number

Hardness is dissolved calcium and magnesium, counted in grains per gallon (gpg). Your utility's yearly water report lists it, and a test strip shows it in a minute. Then pick your band.

  • Up to 3.5 gpg

    Soft

Little scale builds up. A tankless heater still gets a yearly look, but it rarely needs descaling on a schedule.

    • What you see: clean fixtures and glass

    • For the heater: check the inlet screen yearly

  • 3.5 to 7 gpg

    Moderately hard

Scale shows up slowly, first as a faint film on the showerhead.

    • What you see: a light film on glass and chrome

    • For the heater: a flush once a year is the usual interval

  • 7 to 10.5 gpg

    Hard

White crust collects on faucets and spots dry on glasses. Over time, scale can narrow the passages inside a heat exchanger.

    • What you see: crust at the aerator and showerhead

    • For the heater: flush it every year, or as your manual says

  • Over 10.5 gpg

    Very hard

Scale builds quickly. Flush at least yearly, and ask us whether a scale filter or a softener ahead of the heater makes sense in your house.

    • What you see: crust that returns soon after you clean it

    • For the heater: more often than yearly in some homes

Bands follow the U.S. Geological Survey's hardness scale. Your heater's manual sets the maker's flush interval, and it comes first.

The flush visit

What happens when we flush your heater

One visit, one heater. We bring the pump, the hoses and the solution, and we're done in a single trip.

What the visit includes

  • Shut off the gas, the power and the water, then close the isolation valves

  • Connect hoses and a pump to the heater's service ports

  • Circulate descaling solution through the heat exchanger

  • Rinse until the water runs clear, and clean the inlet filter screen

  • Reopen the valves, restart the heater and check for leaks

  • Read the flow, the temperature and the error history, and leave you a written note

The Flush plan

One visit a year for one heater

Join once and we text you each year to book. The plan covers the flush and the check, and nothing else, so you know exactly what you're buying.

  • Flush plan

A yearly descaling visit for one tankless heater.

    • One descaling visit a year
    • Hoses, pump and descaling solution
    • Inlet filter screen cleaned
    • Flow, temperature and error-history check
    • A written note of what we found
    • A text each year to book the visit
    • Repairs and replacement parts
    • Gas, vent or water-line work
    • A second heater
    Term:
Billed once a year and renews each year.

A service plan, not insurance. It renews each year. Cancel by text, by phone or at a visit before the next renewal.

What a second heater or a repair costs is quoted in writing before we start.

Installs

Tankless installs, sized to your house

We size the heater to your fixtures, then check the gas line, the vent and the water side before we quote.

  • Tank to tankless

We take out the storage tank, mount the new unit on the wall and connect gas, vent and water. The written estimate lists each piece.

  • Valves for flushing

Every install gets isolation valves and service ports, so the yearly flush is a simple hookup, not a rebuild.

  • Gas, vent and water

A tankless heater can need a larger gas line and a different vent than the tank it replaces. We check both and tell you before we quote.

Samina D.Corrales, tankless install

“I texted a photo of the error on the screen. Cruz called back that day and knew which code it was.”

Quick answers

Questions before you book

How do I know my heater needs a flush?

A flow or temperature error code, water that runs lukewarm and a louder heater can all point to scale. Your manual lists the maker's flush interval, and we follow it.

Is the Flush plan insurance?

No. It pays for the yearly visit and the check. Repairs and parts are quoted separately, in writing, before we start.

Does my heater have flush valves?

Many installs do, and some older ones don't. If yours doesn't, we quote adding them before we flush.

What does a tankless install cost?

It depends on the heater, the gas line, the vent and the water side. You get a written estimate before work, and it says what it includes and what it leaves out.

Does anyone speak Spanish?

Cruz Marquez does. Tell us when you book and we send him whenever the schedule allows. Not every technician speaks Spanish.
